Motorola Mobility has teamed up with JCB to create the limited edition Motorola Defy+ JCB, designed for those who work in the rugged outdoors and in extremely demanding conditions.
It is wrapped in a patented visco-elastic protective sleeve (come again?) with re-entrant geometry (eh?), which is water resistant, scratch resistant and dust proof (Update: Motorola has just told TechRadar it is IP67 certified. Phew).
It also uses the glass of the moment, Gorilla Glass, to protect the all important 3.7-inch touchscreen.
To assist the workers it is designed for, the Defy+ JCB comes pre-loaded with spirit level, theodolite, decibel meter, torch, unit converter, calculator and DIY store locater apps.
I'm Luke, I'm five and my dad's Bruce Lee…
The Defy+ JCB will ship with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) – no Ice Cream Sandwich here – backed up by a 1GHz processor. The processor has been tweaked to run 25% faster, delivering a more efficient web browsing and multi-tasking experience, according to Motorola.
A 5MP camera with auto focus, flash and digital zoom is included, to catch all those construction site high-jinks. Although, with a paltry 2GB internal storage, you may need to invest in a mircoSD card so not to run out of space.
Saying that, a 2GB microSD is bundled with the handset to get you going, along with a car (van?) charger which boasts, wait for it, an extra long curly cable!
The UK RRP is £259.99 and is available now for you to get your grubby mitts on.
