Sony has announced two new smartphones to join the Xperia Z in its 2013 handset line-up.
They are the mid-range, 4G-enabled Sony Xperia SP and the lower-end Sony Xperia L.
The Xperia SP, as you may have already guessed, is an amalgamation of the Xperia S and Xperia P from last year, offering up a 4.6-inch 720p display with Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2 tech, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, NFC, 4G, 8MP rear camera, 8GB of internal memory, Android Jelly Bean and a 2370mAh battery.
It also comes with a translucent panel at the bottom of the phone so the SP will change colour depending on what's displaying on the screen.

Meanwhile over on the Xperia L you're greeted with a 4.3-inch FWVGA display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera, Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2, NFC and a 1750mAh juice pack.
The Xperia L doesn't sport the same light up bar below the screen, with a chunkier plastic bezel in its place but Sony has still managed to squeeze a notification LED in here, plus both come with removable batteries and microSD slots. Sweet.
Both handsets will be available globally in three colours (white, black and red) during the second quarter of the year, but there's currently no word on an exact release date or pricing.
