Sony Xperia P set for MWC 2012 unveil

The Xperia Nypon (LT22i) looks set to launch as the Sony Xperia P, joining the Xperia S and forthcoming Xperia U in Sony's alphabetical stable.

The leak has come via the Indonesian Telecoms Regulatory body, which was also responsible for the leak of the Xperia U (Kumquat) name earlier this month.

It seems Sony is to follow the letter-base naming scheme for its self titled handsets, after taking full control of Sony Ericsson at the end of last year.

Easy as A, B, C

The Xperia P will reportedly sport a similar look to the Xperia S, but slot into the mid-range market with a dual-core 1GHz processor, 4-inch qHD screen and an 8MP camera.

According to a leaked roadmap for Sony devices earlier this month the Xperia P is expected to hit the selves in April at around £300.

We expect to see the Sony Xperia P and Xperia U and make their debuts at MWC 2012, which looks set to be a busy event for Sony as it launches a host of new devices.
