Images of an interestingly coloured Nokia handset supposedly running an early version of Windows Phone 8 have appeared online.
The snaps come via WPDang sources, which claim the handset featuring in them is located in the Far East and is running what appears to be Windows Phone 8.
Below the screen on the Lumia 800-esque looking handset is the URL proto.nokia.com – which when navigated to offers up a login screen for the "Proto Accountability Tool".
Could just be 7.8
Of course what we may be seeing is not actually Windows Phone 8, but instead Windows Phone 7.8 – the update which current Windows Phone handsets will receive – bringing some, but not all, of the features which arrive with version 8, including the new style live tiles on the homscreen.
We haven't seen any mustard-coloured Lumia handsets yet from the Finnish firm, which suggests that the phone in the photos could well be a new model, but it's difficult to clarify this with the limited, blurry shots.
Luckily we've not got too much of a wait until we see the first Windows Phone 8 handsets, and we already know Nokia is working on one to launch in October alongside the Windows 8 platform.
